Workflows> Failed on Start (retrying)
So in my attempt to setup a Sharepoint WorkFlow. I do not want anything out of the ordinary. I would create a form/survey/InfoPath that would replicate our current paper process of doing expense reports. An employee files out their expenses it gets sent to the manager who approves it, then gets sent to accounting to fund the employee. Simple... Our environment> we run Server 08, IIS7, MOSS 07, SQL 08. My test environment is a survey I am attempting to 'get approval' for. Currently I am just trying to having then the employee fill out the form then having sent/approved by management. No custom scripting, nothing fancy, out of the box functionality. Workflow settings for survey are. Approval template. Assigned to Tasks. Using the Workflow history. I am allowing work flow to be manually started, start this workflow when new item is created. All participants are made aware of this. Approval is manager. Allowed changes to the participant when workflow is started. The lasting setting is update the approval status. Our accounts are related to this survey System Account, manager and my account all full security rights. So I fill out the survey as an employee. Instantly I receive 'Failed on Start (retrying) ' under my workflow name. So out of the box something is wrong. So I dig into this error and uncover a great many people who have this issue. They say to check the root:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS. Inside I find the timestamp around when I did this task and find: UPDATED: I also see these errors. In case they may of us 10/09/2009 15:34:56.12 w3wp.exe (0x0DB8) 0x0E60 Windows SharePoint Services General 8e25 Medium Failed to look up string with key "RulesUrl", keyfile core. 10/09/2009 15:34:56.12 w3wp.exe (0x0DB8) 0x0E60 Windows SharePoint Services General 8l3c Medium Localized resource for token 'RulesUrl' could not be found for file with path: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Template\Features\Fields\fieldswss.xml". 10/09/2009 14:03:44.94* w3wp.exe (0x1088) 0x034C Windows SharePoint Services General 0 Medium ... at System.Web.HttpApplication.ApplicationStepManager.ResumeSteps(Exception error) at System.Web.HttpApplication.System.Web.IHttpAsyncHandler.BeginProcessRequest(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb, Object extraData) at System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestInternal(HttpWorkerRequest wr) at System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestNoDemand(HttpWorkerRequest wr) at System.Web.Hosting.ISAPIRuntime.ProcessRequest(IntPtr ecb, Int32 iWRType) 10/09/2009 14:03:44.95 w3wp.exe (0x1088) 0x034C Windows SharePoint Services General 8kh7 High There is no Web named "/sandbox/Lists/Pull in Data/overview.aspx". 10/09/2009 14:03:44.95 w3wp.exe (0x1088) 0x034C Windows SharePoint Services General 8e2r Medium Possible mismatch between the reported error with code = 0x81070504 and message: "There is no Web named "/sandbox/Lists/Pull in Data/overview.aspx"." and the returned error with code 0x80070002. 10/09/2009 14:03:44.95 w3wp.exe (0x1088) 0x034C Windows SharePoint Services General 0 Medium To help digest the overly confusing log file... 'Sandbox' is my test site, 'Pull in Data' is the name of my survey. So then I dig into this error and find this either a result of custom scripting, I did no such thing or this error is 'expected behavior.' This is all fine if it did not occur at the same time I attempt to submit my workflow- so I assume this log means something and is not 'expected behavior.' I also see this error for nearly everyone of our pages if not all of our them within Sharepoint. All of the sites on our Sharepoint work fine- expect for this Workflow piece, nothing to elude why these error messages would say 'web part not found .' Any thoughts on this point, still find it odd how they occur around the same exact time as the workflow items do? I then attempted to use a different workflow template and received similar errors in the logs and an error of 'error occurred' on the GUI front. Thanks M$ great error message 'error occurred' like I did not know that... So I am at lose of how to troubleshoot this further. Many of the posting said the logs are the key and they did indeed provide more information but did not help me solve my issue. If you can offer any assistance or advice on this matter, let me know. If you need answers to parts of my environment I would also be happy to share this with you. I am disappointed 'out of the box' features in Sharepoint do not work. Thanks.

Were you able to ever determine what the fix for this was?
